FRIM

CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM

SELF-CONSTRUCTED

PLASTIC HOUSING

RAW MATERIAL

• Recycling of domestic and urban containers.

• A high percentage of high and low density polyethylene and polypropylene, makes this a stronger structure and mitigates negative environmental impacts.

• HIGH  DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (milk packs, water bottles and other rigid containers), is one of the most recyclable plastics.

• LOW DENSITY POLYETHYLENE, is used for packaging food. This process uses high energy consumption, less toxic and hazardous materials, as compared with other plastics.

• POLYPROPYLENE, greater structural strength.

ADDITIVES

*LUBRICANTS, Improve appearance and reduce friction.

Antioxidants protect the polymer against chemical degradation Caused by oxygen or ozone.

+THERMAL STABILIZERS, extend product life.

*PIGMENTS, wood-color plastic.

*FIRE RETARDANTS, reduce plastic flammability, isolate and prevent combustion from spreading.

*UV STABILIZER, weather protection.

+FOAM, composed of gas and plastic, provide protection against heat and makes the structure lighter.

1.- Thermal isolation supported by air chamber.

2.- Rainwater channeling and collection.

3.- Permeable facades for natural ventilation.

4.- Sun Protection for facades

ADVANTAGES

• Maximum ecological and functional benefits.

• Prevents the indiscriminated cutting of trees.

• Uses green ink.

• It is natural, does not require paint or pesticides.

• It is acoustic, thermal and an electrical insulator.

• It is lightweight

FRIM system was created based on a social need derived from the difficulty in obtaining expensive materials, such as concrete and steel. It is considered the material of the future, with the advantage that its main raw material, petroleum, is produced in the country.

This system was designed at a detailed scale of each plug and socket, and even furniture, so that it may be assembled by at least 3 to 4 people, working with a scaffold specially designed for the FRIM system, making use of a pulley. The size and weight of each piece have been made for this purpose in order to be able to build a full-scale prototype in the not too distant future.

As can be seen, the assembly structure is very similar to a LEGO and can be achieved in 25 major steps. Just as the facade and internal furniture assembly, everything works under the same system.

A sample of what a large-scale growth of the joint and common use areas, crops and recreation would look like, follows.

The first proposal shown covers the basic needs, creating opportunities for agriculture, rentals, with flexible and recreational spaces and parking.

Final FRIM group academic work, carried out in pairs and in groups of 4.

Acknowledgement as semester best project.
